Indonesian Srivijaya Empire Tin Sanskrit Shipwreck Artifact - Ca 650-1377 AD

For sale is this incredible authentic Indonesian Srivijaya Empire era tin or lead fragment with crude Sanskrit writing on it. The Srivijaya Empire was a buddhist rule based on the island of Sumatra in Indonesia. The empire lasted from around 650-1377 AD, and was ground zero for the spreading of Buddhism throughout Southeast Asian areas. At they time the primary written language for the region was Sanskrit. This piece is made of tin (presumably, also possibly lead) and is about 15cm long and 1.5cm wide. It was discovered rolled up (and will be shipped that way for safe keeping). On one face of it, it has a very crude and difficult to make out Sanskrit writing. I do not speak the language, so I am unsure of the topic of the piece. It was discovered by a team of divers in a river. I purchased it from the team directly (as I have many certified shipwreck antiquities in the past). This piece is presumed to have been from a wreck in the area, as it was found near some known sites. Please note from the photos condition. It is very frail, and has several blemishes. There are some toned spots, small chips, weak spots, and other flaws. The writing is also difficult to make out in many places. A filler like flour or powder might can be used to help decipher (or pressing on wax). This would be an incredible addition to any collection. It is rare that I am able to add pieces like this to my collection, as this is EXTREMELY RARE! Don’t miss out!
