The "Ultra Protect" basement window well covers are designed with "Safety" & "Security" for your home and family in mind. These professional grade lightweight basement window well covers are built using clear impact resistant, UV-resistant, polycarbonate sheet plastic and structural grade aluminum. Installing an "Ultra Protect" basement window well cover over your open basement window well minimizes the risk of persons or animals falling into deep, uncovered, unprotected basement window wells, preventing possible serious injury. When properly installed using our solid steel “SAF-T Lock” locking system (included) these covers will support a minimum of 250 lbs. This locking system features a pull pin release that quickly unlocks the cover from inside the basement window well without the use of a tool (required by building codes) making for a quick and easy exit in the event of an emergency. The model EL400 (41 in. x 14 in. Elongated) window well cover is designed for use over typical corrugated steel window wells. After installation this cover can be trimmed if needed to the profile (plus up to a 1 in. overhang around the perimeter) of any type basement window well (steel, concrete, block, timber etc.) by using an ordinary jigsaw equipped with an aluminum cutting blade (8 to 12 teeth per inch blade for best results) making for a perfect fit window well cover over any type window well.

This is made out of ~1/4 inch plexiglass with no reinforcement. The specs state that it will hold 250 lbs. I highly doubt that rating as it flexes like crazy with just 30lbs of weight. You dont get the weight rating you pay for on this one.

I had looked high and low for a window well cover that would fit my 1975 window well. Including on line at at various other similar stores. I never could find one sturdy enough to hold me at 214 lbs up. Guess what folks? This one will hold me up even if I gain some weight, fits perfectly and keeps moisture, leaves, toads and all other critters out. It is clear so you can actually see what is going on down there. Installation took maybe 5 minutes, probably less. For less than a hundred bucks you absolutely cannot go wrong!

Worked perfect and easily installed without any need to do cutting. Only had to drill a few holes. My window went above the well so I drilled the aluminum support and added a 9" piece of plexi glass with bolts both bought at a local hardware store for a custom fit. This is clear material with excellent light transparency and no difference noted in light that reaches the basement. The metal clamps that hold this in place would allow for it to be easily popped off from below if the window was egress so no safety concerns if installed as instructed. Delivery was fast and condition of item was excellent.

Came with the cheaper "well clips. Was planning on getting three more if the proper “SAF-T Lock locking system (included)" came with them
